Relics of Saint Anne
The Shrine is home to three distinguished relics of Saint Anne.
The FIRST RELIC (a portion of a bone from one of Saint Anne's finger) was obtained from the Chapter of Carcassonne and was brought to the Shrine on March 12, 1670, by Saint Bishop François de Laval.
The first MAJOR RELIC arrived at the Shrine on July 26, 1892, as a gift from Pope Leo XIII. It consists of a four-inch fragment of Saint Anne's forearm, obtained from the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, in Rome. This relic was brought to Saint Anne de Beaupré by Bishop Joseph-Calixte Canac-Marquis (1821-1904).
Finally, on July 3, 1960, the Shrine solemnly welcomed another major relic of Saint Anne - the forearm of Saint Anne. It was given by Saint Pope John XXIII and, like the previous one, came from the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls.
