"Sent to Every Encounter"
The Novena to Saint Anne, from July 17 to 25 and her feast on July 26, are a unique and privileged time of prayer at the Shrine. This year, Anne M. Walsh will be the preacher for the English Masses. While Father Marcel Caron, originally from Ontario, now living in Quebec, will be preaching the Novena in French.
Anne M. Walsh
Anne Marie Walsh is a native of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She works with the Redemptorists of Canada as a member of the Redemptorist Adult Faith Formation Team, and with the Redemptorists of North America as Coordinator of Partnership in Mission, resourcing and designing formation programs for adults in the Redemptorist charism, spirituality and mission. She holds the Office of Partnership in Mission for the Redemptorists worldwide, and is Chair of the Redemptorist General Commission for Partnership in Mission.
Anne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Master’s in Religious Education and a Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies from St. Michael’s College, Toronto, a Diploma in Fine Arts from the University of Calgary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from St. Stephen’s College.
In addition to classroom teaching, Anne has worked in Campus Ministry in Toronto and St. John’s, in Youth Ministry in Canada, the US and Ireland, and in Religious Education and Adult Faith Formation at the School Board, Parish and Diocesan levels. She has served on advisory committees for Adult Faith Formation for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) since 2001, and was the principal writer for On Good Soil, the Canadian Bishops’ document on Adult Faith Formation. She has also served on CCCB writing teams for the Youth and Young Adult Ministry guiding document, You Give them Something to Eat, and for the Year 4 Family Faith Formation resource, Come and See. Anne serves as Chair of the Association of Canadian Catholic Association for Adult Faith Formation, and on the Board of Vocations Canada.
Anne is an avid crafter. She plays guitar and enjoys singing and folk music. Anne is a member of the parish choir at St. Teresa’s in St. John’s. She is a lover of history and is chair of the Basilica Heritage Foundation and the Basilica Museum and Historical Committee.
