The future of the Fraternity Saint-Alphonse
What will happen next year to the Fraternity Saint-Alphonse, a shelter in Québec City that helps people struggling with various addictions?
The question is urgent because the building where the organization has been housed for more than fifteen years has been put on sale by its owner, the religious congregation of the Brothers of Charity.
The premises are valued at nearly $ 2 million, a sum that the fraternity of Saint-Alphonse does not have. They could, however, offer half that amount to buy the place. They recognize however that the building will need some serious renovations.
The Redemptorist Father André Morency is the founder of this organization. "After December 1st, a sign will be put on the curb. If there are promoters who offer more, our offer falls, " he told a reporter late November.
