Paul VI and Mgr Romero soon canonized
Pope Francis paved the way for the canonization of Blessed Paul VI and Oscar Romero. On March 6th, 2018, he signed decrees for the causes of thirteen men and women. He notably recognized a miracle attributed to Pope Paul VI who, according to Vatican Cardinal Pietro Parolin, will be canonized in October, at the end of the Synod of Bishops on Youth, Faith and vocational discernment. Paul VI, born Giovanni Battista Montini, was Pope from 1963 to 1978. Pope Francis also officially signed the decree recognizing the miracle necessary to advance the cause of Archbishop Oscar Romero, the former Archbishop of San Salvador who was assassinated in 1980.
