Pope Francis attacks fake news

Pope Francis attacks the fake news and recalls that all citizens have the "responsibility to counteract these falsehoods".

In a message he published on Wednesday, January 24th, the pope defines fake news as "unfounded information, based on non-existent or distorted data and aimed at deceiving or even manipulating the reader."

An exposure to these false news, present in the social media, leads, according to Pope Francis, to "the discredit of the other, its representation as an enemy, until a demonization most likely to stir up conflicts".
