Message from the Rector of the Shrine

Last week, the Québec Provincial Government and Archdiocesan officials announced the authorization to reopen places of worship.

We are pleased to announce that the Shrine of Saint Anne de Beaupré will be opening its doors to welcome pilgrims and visitors once again on Monday, June 29, 2020. The splendid Basilica will be open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

During the past few weeks, we have been busy preparing for the Shrine’s eventual reopening. We are thankful to the many people who have had a hand in ensuring that our reopening is done in such a way that respects the additional health and safety measures that have been put into place by both the Department of Public Health and the Archdiocese in order to safeguard our visitors, pilgrims and employees.

The reopening of the Shrine will be a gradual process. As a result, public access to certain parts of the Shrine will, initially, remain limited. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, the Basilica will be open to welcome pilgrims and visitors for personal prayer.

The first public Mass will be celebrated in the Basilica on Sunday, July 5 at 11:00 a.m. Thereafter, daily Masses will be celebrated in the Basilica from Monday to Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Due to the current capacity limit of 50 people in the Basilica, overflow crowds during Masses will be directed to the park in front of the Basilica. The Mass will be broadcasted over the exterior sound system and communion will be distributed. We also plan to offer adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each afternoon in the Basilica. Adjustments to this preliminary schedule will be made as needed.

The Church Store will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A priest will be available at the Blessings Office during these same hours.

We welcome individuals, families and groups to come and spend some time in prayer to Good Saint Anne and to join us for worship here at the Shrine. It is our Lord’s constant presence and Saint Anne’s unfailing intercession that make this Shrine a place of prayer. It is the very presence of the pilgrims and visitors here who make this Shrine a unique place of pilgrimage.
